The Logistics Specialist - Trainee will be a dynamic, self-motivated, and success driven person with an interest in working in the areas of operations, load planning, carrier relations, and customer relations. This position is located at the company headquarters in Plant City, FL and is a part-time internship. The Logistics Specialist - Trainee will work 40-45 hours per week. Candidates for this position should be pursuing a College Degree in the field of Logistics, Transportation Management, or Supply Chain Management or other business related major.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Track shipments, schedule appointments, communicate updates and schedules with customers and carriers
- Assist and learn negotiation of carrier rates and schedules
- Assist and learn load planning and work through challenges to pick-up and deliver shipments with carriers and customers
- Deliver exceptional customer service to our carriers, customers, and drivers
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Have a positive and energetic attitude in the workplace
- Works well both independently and within group settings
- An analytical problem solver that applies sound judgment in decisions
- Works well under pressure and time constraints • Effective negotiation skills a plus
Summary of Education & Experience:
- Completed High School and looking to pursue college degree/training in the field(s) of: logistics, transportation, supply chain, operations, or other related business programs
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills and overall strong computer and database skills
- Prefer candidates with previous customer service, project management, operations, or other business related work experiences

Job Summary:
Our Business Development Executives are responsible for prospecting, qualifying and generating new FTL (Full Truckload) business throughout North America. They acquire leads through industry research, social media, networking, and cold calling. Must be highly commission motivated, extremely self-driven and very organized. They specialize in the ability to communicate with top-level executives through email, phone and/or in person. They have excellent negotiating skills that allow them the ability to successfully negotiate and close new business deals.
Requirements:
- Logistics experience preferred or two years of B2B sales experience
- High school diploma required
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Must be able to multi-task
- MUST be HIGHLY MOTIVATED with a 2nd to none work ethic.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to maintain and document information into our company’s Transportation Management System
- Must be able to have fun while working in a fast pace, stressful, environment.

Patterson Companies, LLC. operates Freightliner Cascadias and Peterbilt 579s tractors currently on a 3 year trade cycle. Tractors are equipped with Refrigerators, 1800 watt inverters, Espar Bunk heaters, EZ Pass and Qualcomm (Omnitracs). Our temperature control division pulls 53’ air ride trailers with Carrier reefer units and our current trade cycle on trailers is 4 years.
Requirements:
- Must be 23 years of age or older.
- Must hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
- Must have a Minimum 3 years verifiable Tandem – Axle Tractor-Trailer driving experience.
- Prefer having some refrigerated trailer experience.
- Prefer having some East Coast delivery experience.
- Motor vehicle record may not show any Alcohol/Drug related convictions within the previous 5 years. This will include Alcohol related convictions which have been plead to a lesser charge such as careless driving.
- No major violations within the previous 3 years.
- No license suspension during the previous year.
- No current restrictions of driving privilege.
- Must hold a current DOT physical certificate.
- Must pass a pre–employment drug screen.
